Preparing for 1st grade already?!

Our oldest daughter's kindergarten year is quickly coming to a close. We are beginning to plan for first grade, which is unbelievable.

I feel really bad about not keeping up with this blog, but hopefully it will be easier to do so once we are in more of a routine. Kindergarten ended up being a lot more laidback than we had intended--for a variety of reasons--and first grade will have to be more structured. The main goal we had for this year was for JRL to read, and she does. She even somewhat enjoys it when she's slowing down enough to read words accurately. She has been doing this thing where she sees a word like "lived" and says, "loved," without really paying attention. This is something we will continue to work on with her.
